The six-song EP of then-new songs released in December 1967 gets somewhat mixed marks it’s usually viewed as a set with two great numbers (“I Am the Walrus” and “The Fool on the Hill”) plus four less interesting tracks. Although disjointed, in it's approach, Magical Mystery Tour gives us yet another insight into the Beatles music and psyche. Magical Mystery Tour opened to dismal reviews, and criticism, but with praise for the music with the Lennon classic "I Am The Walrus" leading the way. The Beatles spent six weeks editing the film that only cost them $100,000 to make. The majority of interior scenes were filmed at the West Malling RAF Station in Kent. The surrealistic trip was started on 11 September 1967 and was completed on 15 September 1967 with various outdoor scenes and themes filmed in short order. The bus makes various stops and ends up with an odd assortment of about 50 passengers. The story revolves around a trip taken by Ringo Starr and his Aunt Jessie in a brightly painted tour bus. It was Paul McCartney who came up with the idea for the Magical Mystery Tour movie.
